Designing Corpulence

Coming to a McDonald’s near you. Imagine, with McDonald’s sales rising due to the recession, they want you to feel more at home and think of them as a neighborhood restaurant. They deck it out in chairs designed by Charlotte Kingsworth and for the entertainment they install Paul McCarthy’s Mechanical Pig. Now of course McDonalds would never actually do this because it might be a little too literal their new slogan “What we’re made of”. Do they really want you to know what they’re made of?
I do love conceptual work that challenges our perceptions of cultural objects. Maybe during this time of less conspicuous consumption, we will have more time to think about “What we’re made of”.
