San Francisco’s own DJ Earworm just finished working with Annie Lennox on a new mashup titled “Backwards/Forwards” which deconstructs all her hits into a new single creating a new song.

Back in 2005 I saw the Jeremy Blake video installation at SFMOMA titled “Winchester” inspired by theĀ Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, CA. I think about the installation every time I drive through San Jose and I recently came across an article about the suicides of Jeremy Blake and his girlfriend, Theresa Duncan, in Newsweek. Both stories of Sarah Winchester and Jeremy Blake are very sad and haunting. Jeremy Blake’s story is apparently being turned into a film by Lions Gate and Gus Van Sant has signed on as a consultant to the film. Check out Jeremy Blake’s “Century 21″ video that was part of the SFMOMA “Winchester” installation.

The Standard Hotel in NYC worked with artist Marco Brambilla on a video installation for the hotel elevator titled “Civilization”. When you go up in the elevator, the video takes you to heaven and down takes you to hell. In a Q&A session with the artist posted on Glossy, he discusses how they tested for motion sickness before the video was installed. Read more »
