The Knife is Releasing an Opera Album

Video excerpt from Hotel Pro Forma’s opera Tomorrow, In A Year

I have been a big fan of The Knife since a friend introduced me to their sophomore album, Deep Cuts, back in 2004. They recently collaborated with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock to compose music for the Danish performance group Hotel Pro Forma’s Darwin themed opera based on the book On the Origin of the Species. They are going to release the studio album of the opera Tomorrow, In A Year digitally in February followed by the hard copy in March. It should be interesting and I hope some remixes are produced, bringing some of the albums songs to the dance floor.

They released a free download of the eleven minute song “Colouring of Pigeons” this week.

I’m a big fan of artists using 3D to create alternate worlds and surrealist mindscapes that are conceptually and aesthetically removed from the gaming and film industry’s use of 3D technology.
